As the area between Puhoi and Warkworth developed, so did the traffic numbers over the Ahuroa Hill. Auckland Transport decided that it was time to tarseal the gravel road. Initially starting out tarsealing 1.2 kms, the job continued and Mason Contractors are continuing further kms.
